Miller Outdoor Theatre
Hermann Park

Conceived by Jefferson Award winner Raúl Orlando Edwards, Salsa y Salud is a socially-unifying cultural and health-education initiative using artistic expressions, in this case salsa, as a principal source of physical activity and active lifestyle: Arts with Social Impact!  Extensive research on this type of events indicate that this might be the first one to be launched in the country. Arts with Social Impact in partnership with the Hispanic Health Coalition, Foundation for Modern Music, BOUNCE (Behavior Opportunities Uniting Nutrition Counseling and Exercise) and FLAMART (Featuring Latin American Music and Art) present an evening of exciting Latin music. Featuring the specially formed Houston All-Star Salsa Orchestra integrated by vocalists and instrumentalists from some of Houston best salsa groups in its Miller Outdoor Theater debut. Special guests include: Solero Flamenco; the KIPP Houston High School Jazz Ensemble; and dancers from JAKS, DANMAR Academy of Performing Arts, the TSU Latin Club, Vincent James, and Strictly Street Salsa. TELEFUTURA 67, Nayeli Escamilla, will be the hostess for this evening.

This project is sponsored in part by the City of Houston through the Miller Theatre Advisory Board.
